6-8 Classroom

Greetings
Welcome to the 6th-8th Grade Class where we foster an enriching learning environment where students feel safe to take learning risks and have the confidence to be comfortable with mistakes. Our goals are to feel empowered to ask questions, explore new ideas, and take ownership of our own learning. As a teacher, I strive to be a facilitator of discovery, a model of curiosity, and a builder of confidence. Let’s have a great year!

Make sure to stay up to date with our classroom news.
Classroom- Homework
Homework is important because it is a valuable tool in helping students make the most of their experiences in school. Homework helps reinforce what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students develop positive study habits. At this age, students may have anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes of homework on any given night. There is no regular schedule for this work other than preparation for spelling test on Fridays. If your child is utilizing their time in the classroom, there will usually be no homework at all. Otherwise, unfinished assignments may follow them home for completion and I expect their best effort.
Nightly Reading
Students should read AT LEAST 30 minutes each night. Reading is the most important skill to practice and spend time on. Reading at home will also help students reach their AR Goal for each quarter.
