Greetings
Hello! In our K-2 classroom, we will focus on building positive relationships and being kind to everyone. Reading, the foundation of academics, is one of the most important skills we will work on in class. We encourage students to practice the skill of reading as much as possible. When we aren't reading, we'll be working on the other core subjects: math, writing, science, and social studies. Our classroom will be filled with smiles and happy brains!
Classroom- Homework
Homework is an important part of review and retention. Students will have homework every night of the week, and it's expected that it will be brought back to school the day after it's assigned. The goal is to spend less than 15 minutes on something that will help your student cement the knowledge in their wonderful mind.
Nightly Reading
Reading is the most important skill to practice as much as possible. It is expected that students read every night for at least 15 minutes. This nightly reading will help your student reach their quarterly reading goal. There are also smaller reading goals to reach throughout the quarter. Please read, read, read!
Attention Kindergarten Parents
In order to ease kindergarten students into a five-day school week, kindergarten students will not come to school on the first six Wednesdays of the year. This will give them a chance to get into the school routine without the stress of a full week. The first full week for kindergarten students will be September 30 to October 4.
If you have any questions about this please contact Mrs. Pruttis and check the Calendar Page.
* Please note this only applies to kindergarten students. *
